Amazon’s Android Appstore launched in India: download content on your Kindle & pay

After two years of its launch, Amazon’s Android Appstore has been launched in India. You can download content on your Kindle and pay through your Amazon account

Amazon’s Android Appstore is finally in India. This is going to be a great news for Amazon fans who have been hoping to get access to numerous Amazon services in the country for many years. While the consumers in India and many other countries are going to get Amazon’s Android Appstore and along with it great value services from the American tech giant, it is also giving an opportunity to the company to finally earn much needed revenue from its existing services by just making them available to the larger world. This is a shrewd move and will benefit the company substantially and add to its value by bringing in customers from much of the world that was deprived of the useful services.

Many developers in India will also get an opportunity to develop app suited for Amazon products including its Kindle e-reader and Kindle Fire HD besides of course several other products from the biggest online retailer in the world. Besides India, American retailing giant has opened its Appstore in around 200 other countries. So virtually every country in the world will have Amazon’s Android Appstore.

Now the people who had Amazon e –readers, Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD besides other Amazon gadgets will be able to download apps through the Amazon Appstore in “coming months” and pay for them with an Amazon account. The Amazon Appstore was introduced in United States early 2011. Later it was opened in the countries like UK, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Japan. Amazon is very optimistic about its chances in new markets. A top Amazon official Mike George while talking to the media said, “Allowing developers to target distribution of their apps and games in even more international countries is yet another important milestone as we strive to serve consumers and developers globally…Many of our existing developers have localised their apps and games for international consumers, and we look forward to working with new developers that have been waiting to bring their apps to more Amazon customers across the globe”. So things are looking very positive for the online retailer and its income is set to substantially increase with expansion in new markets.
